10 Steps to happiness

Happiness isn’t about leading an obstacle-free life — your life will always have obstacles — instead, it’s about learning how to change what you focus on and how you react to circumstances, regardless of whether they’re good or bad. Happiness is a mental state of well-being that comes from focusing more often on the behaviours, people, and things that will enrich and inspire your positive physical, mental, and emotional growth. Here are 10 steps to begin living a happier life:
Step One: Exercise.
Yes, you’ve heard it before, but exercise is one small change that yields really big, life-changing benefits. For starters, it is a fantastic energizer, invigorating your mind and body. Exercise improves your sleep, and it’s a natural anti-depressant that will help your attitude and outlook. As time passes, you’ll gain the added bonus of being happier with your physical appearance as well. If working out is already a part of your life, great. If it isn’t, commit to walking just twenty minutes every other day to start out. You don’t have to join a gym, sign up for exhausting classes, and completely reorder your life to reap the benefits of this investment.
Step Two: Take Charge of Your Mind.
If you want your thoughts and attitudes to be positive, you must fill your brain with encouraging ideas. For this reason, you may consider making motivational books and audio recordings part of your daily ritual, too. It sounds incredibly hokey, but listening to a motivational CD during your morning commute or reading motivational messages for fifteen minutes can put you in a positive place all day.
Step Three: Celebrate Success.
Most people tend to focus a lot of mental energy on the things that went wrong rather than the things that went well. Instead of beating yourself up, start celebrating your many successes. Relax about the things that don’t go perfectly, and celebrate everything that does. The cycle of negativity that focuses on failures will keep you from becoming a truly relaxed, content, and happy person.
Step Four: Eliminate Excess Stress.
Stress prevents you from living in and enjoying life. It can also cause negative long-term effects ranging from high blood pressure and insomnia to depression and anxiety. If you can’t eliminate or change a stressor, such as a job you hate but can’t afford to quit, challenge yourself to handle it differently. Decide beforehand how you will react in a more enlightened way when certain stressful situations occur. Having a game plan in place beforehand can reduce your negative reactions to stressors—big time.
Step Five: Live in the Present.
If you’re ruminating on what’s already happened or fretting about what might come to pass, you’re not enjoying the moment. You’re exacerbating your anxiety and unhappiness by choosing to dwell on things you can’t change or control. Forgive others (and yourself) for any wrongs you might be holding on to and stop dreading the future. Over time, you’ll start to live the adventurous, wonderful life in the present you were always meant to.
Step Six: Hang Around Positive People.
We influence and are influenced by the people we hang around. Gradually, you need to gravitate more toward the ‘Positives’ and distance yourself from the ‘Negatives.’ This might mean calling a positive friend and asking to meet up for coffee or a beer, or walking away from the water cooler when your co-workers begin to gripe and complain. Negative people will inevitably pass their unhealthy attitudes on to you.
Step Seven: Strengthen Close Relationships.
It’s always worth putting work into improving close relationships because the quality of the relationships you have with the people you are the closest to can make or break the quality of your life. Loving, supportive relationships will improve your outlook and well-being. Address any unresolved grievances and apologize for the things you may regret. Most of all, put more work into the relationship with your significant other than you do into anything else: This can make such a great difference in your emotional health, your stress levels, and your overall happiness.
Step Eight: Be Friendly.
Extending simple human kindness to other people can make a huge difference in their lives…and in yours. Everyone on Earth is carrying some sort of burden. You can’t make their pain, stress, or grief just magically disappear but you can make others feel just a little bit lighter and happier on their journey, even if only for five seconds. When you make friendliness a habit, you’ll attract kindness and smiles in return, and you’ll feel great about yourself for making a positive difference in the world!
Step Nine: Give Back.
It’s true: It really is better to give than to receive. Giving doesn’t have to involve money, either; your time, talents, and compassion are just as valuable as cash, if not more so. We’re all busy—but as often as you can, make the effort to do something nice to help another person or organization. Whether you’re giving time, energy, money, or encouragement, being generous will build up your self-esteem, broaden your perspective, keep you anchored in reality, and connect you to your blessings.
Step Ten: Be Grateful.
Yes, living with an 'attitude of gratitude' is a clichéd concept. But across the board, grateful people are happier and healthier; yes, studies have actually shown that thankful individuals are healthier too! It’s extremely important to be aware of all of your blessings, and to honour and thank those whom you owe for them. The humility that comes from knowing you owe so much to so many others may, in turn, spur you to give back more often to those less fortunate than yourself.

However blissfully happy you are, it’s natural to have a few rows now and then. Even Romeo and Juliet would have had their “It’s YOUR turn to put the bins out” moments. So what are the most common reasons couples argue? And what can you do to minimise the damage?
1. Money
One of the biggest bug bears in many relationships, your attitude to money can be a make a break factor. Without similar spending habits a match made in heaven can quickly turn sour. If one of you is considerably more frugal than the other you’ll need to come to a compromise before fireworks fly. Try setting a weekly budget for each of you to sick to and see how you get on. Alternatively some couples spend freely but consult each other on particularly expensive purchases. (For example spending more than 1000 AED.)
2. Housework
If you’re a domestic goddess and his idea of cleaning is shoving dirty socks under the bed, you can bet it’ll lead to some rows. If one of you is not pulling your weight in the house, you may have to instigate a rota. It might sound a bit ‘primary school’ but if you can’t take fairly split up the chores without arguments, it could really help your relationships. Another option is to start doing some of the more unpopular jobs together. Spend on afternoon a week cleaning the house together then reward yourself with dinner out.
3. Children
Fantastic as they are, children can put pressure on any relationship. It’s important you agree who will be doing what at the start of each week so there’s no room for dispute. If you can’t agree on discipline, try to maintain a united front when you’re with the children or they’ll be running rings around you. It’s really important you discuss everything and communicate as much as possible to solve all your little niggles. And don’t forget to take time out, both individually and as a couple.
4. Work
Hectic schedules can be the kiss of death for couples. Even if you live in the same house it’s not always easy to spend quality time together. Make sure you’re putting each other first and plan fun activities to do together. If your other half has been particularly stressed out with work, try to be patient. Remind yourself that his busy spell won’t last forever and take the opportunity to see friends when you can. If it’s you that’s feeling the pressure, try not to take it out on him. Even if he’s failed on washing up duty and you’re late back, take a deep breath, count to 10 and discuss rationally. You’ll get a better response.
5. Flirting and exes
Jealousy can cause major rows in a relationship. If you’re feeling an attack of the green eyed monster, talk to friends and family before you jump into an argument. They’ll be able to tell you if your reactions are rational or whether you’re just being silly. If an issue is causing serious problems, for an example a boyfriend regularly meeting his ex, take the time to sit down and discuss it with him. If he’s flying off the handle whenever you speak to another man, take the same approach. Ask a trusted friend of family member before diving in at the deep end.

15 minutes recipes: Strawberry mousse

ingredients
Fresh strawberries: 1 quart
Strawberry gelatine: 1 package (1.4 ounces) 4 serving-size
Boiling water: ½ cup
Sugar: ¼ cup
Heavy cream: 2 cups
Whole strawberries and whipped cream: for garnishing purpose



directions

Blend the strawberries
Take a large bowl and add about 1.4 ounces of strawberry gelatine and ¼ cup of sugar to it. Mix it all and then add ½ cup of boiling water into this mixture. 
Stir the mixture again until everything is dissolved.
Add blended strawberries to the gelatine mixture and then add whipped cream
Add whipped cream and blend it all
Refrigerate the new mixture for about 2 hours

Guys might think that women only pay attention to the car they’re driving or the Burberry shirt they’re wearing, but that isn't 100% true most of the time. Girls are very complicated creatures that have an eye for detail, and that being said, TRUST ME when I tell you we spot every little detail in your outward appearance the minute you walk into a room. From your shoes brand to the color of your boxers, here are 5 things we look at that you don’t know about:
1. Your teeth! We can’t help but focus on how yellow your teeth are when you’re smiling at us from across a room. A little tooth whitening toothpaste will help with tooth stain removal. If you have bad mouth odor, seeing a dentist is essential. On your next visit to the pharmacy make sure you pick up floss, teeth whitening tooth paste, and a minty mouth wash! There’s nothing sexier than a man with a gorgeous, minty smile.
2. Your nails. Ok guys, we’re not expecting you to go for manis and pedis, we know how homophobic this can get for you, but at least do the job right at home. The best time to trim/ cut your nails is right after your shower. Cut your nails using a straight edge clipper and if needed, get an emery board at your local pharmacy and file the ragged edges. With time you’ll get used to it and we’ll definitely notice it.
3. Feet, feet, feet. Whether it’s your heels, nails, or just the smell, feet are the first thing we look at when you’re in flip flops. No girl likes a man with smelly feet or shoes, and if you think we won’t notice that once you take off your shoes, you’re dead wrong. If you think you might have a foot- odor problem, consult a dermatologist or grab any OTC drug or powder for smelly feet. Again with your nails, cut them right after your shower, and it won’t hurt if you used a foot scraper for your heels as you showered. We go through hell to look pretty for you, we don’t expect you to book a Brazilian wax every week, but c’mon you don’t have to gross us out with stinky feet.
4. Facial hair. And by facial hair I'm not talking the usual beard/ mustache that some girls like and others hate. I'm talking the facial hair we all hate; unibrows and nose hairs. As gayish as this might sound but plucking a few hairs from your unibrow in the middle (and only the middle) will help pretty up that face. If you’re worried you’re going to pluck too much, ask your barber to do it for you. When it comes to nose/ ear hair there’s only one rule: anything coming out of a hole should be plucked. They’re called nose hairs; make sure they stay IN your nose.
5. Your back. As sexy as your abs may seem and as hard as it is to get those 6 packs at the gym, the minute you turn around we take a long hard look at your back. What we’re hoping to see there are muscles, no hair or just a few, and soft shiny skin. If you have tinea or other skin diseases from the hot summer sun, make sure you treat them before you turn your back to us.
Even if you didn't do any of what I just told you up there, we’ll still love you just as much, but just remember women spend HOURS at the hair dresser fixing themselves up for you, spend HOURS shopping for nice clothes to look nice for you, and HOURS to lotion themselves up to give YOU a soft touch, wouldn't it be nice if you could return the favor?
